Stevie Wonder is celebrating one of the most important albums in modern R&B and popular music with a new anniversary tour built around Songs in the Key of Life.
According to reporting published September 8, Wonder will perform the landmark 1976 album in full during an 18-date run beginning in October in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and ending December 19 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. U.S. stops include New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Detroit and Los Angeles.
Why this album still matters
Songs in the Key of Life won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and produced enduring songs including “I Wish,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “As” and “Sir Duke.” Its influence reaches across R&B, soul, pop and hip-hop, and the recording is part of the Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
