Developing: Saudi Arabia temporarily shut its 1,200-kilometer East-West oil pipeline after a drone attack caused damage and injuries. The pipeline can carry approximately 4 to 5 million barrels daily and allows exports to bypass the already-disrupted Strait of Hormuz.
Iraq says the attack originated from its territory, but Iran-aligned militia groups have denied responsibility. Iraqi authorities opened an investigation and removed officials as they examine how the drone launch occurred.
Meanwhile, Houthi forces reportedly seized Yemen’s Perim Island, strengthening their position near the Bab el-Mandeb shipping route. Pressure on these energy and shipping corridors could raise gasoline, diesel, airfare, grocery and delivery costs worldwide.
