A Brooklyn flight attendant faces criminal charges after investigators accused her of participating in a sweepstakes scheme that cost a 75-year-old Palm Coast woman about $25,310.
News4JAX reported October 27 that Destiny Blake, 24, was arrested October 23 at Miami International Airport on a Flagler County warrant. The sheriff’s office said she later was released on $30,000 bond.
The charges include an organized scheme to defraud an older person, misuse of identifying information and grand theft. They are allegations, not findings of guilt.
Investigators describe a prize claim followed by payments
According to the arrest affidavit cited in the report, the woman received a November 2025 call claiming she had won a Publishers Clearing House prize. Investigators allege that gift-card demands, cash transfers and unauthorized card charges followed.
The reported evidence includes transaction records, travel information and surveillance material. TalkLife has not independently authenticated those investigative exhibits and is attributing the account to the affidavit and sheriff’s office.
The October arrest concerns alleged conduct from 2025; it should not be described as a scheme that began this week.
A case with a practical household lesson
A prize notification that leads to demands for money or sensitive account information deserves independent verification. A useful first step is to stop the conversation and contact the named organization through a number obtained separately, rather than one supplied by the caller.
Families can discuss unexpected prize messages without blaming a person who reports a suspicious contact. Preserving messages and transaction details can also make an account easier to explain when seeking help.
Those precautions do not decide this defendant’s case. The confirmed development is an arrest and filed accusations. Responsibility for the alleged losses remains a matter for the legal process.
