New York health officials detected Legionella bacteria in a cooling tower at Yankee Stadium, officials said Monday, September 14, 2026. No cases of Legionnaires’ disease have been linked to the stadium.
The affected system is being treated and monitored. Legionella can grow in building water systems and spread through inhaled mist; it does not generally spread from person to person.
