The 27th Latin Grammy Awards will bring reggaeton, hip-hop, alternative music, regional Mexican sounds and singer-songwriter traditions into one of the year’s broadest showcases of Spanish- and Portuguese-language music.
Karol G, Rosalía, Jorge Drexler and Argentine duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso each received seven nominations. Producer and songwriter Edgar Barrera leads the overall field with 10.
A field that resists one label
Karol G’s Tropicoqueta moves through urban, tropical and regional Mexican influences. Rosalía’s multilingual LUX (Complete Works) combines spiritual themes and experimental production. Drexler’s Taracá continues his work across singer-songwriter and alternative categories, while Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso bring an energetic mix of hip-hop and genre-blending performance.
Silvana Estrada and Mon Laferte received six nominations each. The Best New Artist category includes 11 emerging acts, offering audiences a path beyond the most familiar names.
Daddy Yankee receives a milestone honor
Daddy Yankee will be recognized as the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year. The distinction makes him the first Latin urban artist to receive the honor and reflects reggaeton’s transformation from a marginalized Caribbean movement into a dominant global sound.
What comes next
The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 12 in Las Vegas. Nominations recognize work selected by voting members, but they do not predict the winners.
What the list already confirms is the cultural reach of music too often compressed into a single “Latin” category. These artists come from different countries, traditions and creative approaches.
