Kehlani, Olivia Dean, Pharrell Williams and Herbie Hancock are among the artists who will help reveal the 2027 Grammy nominations, bringing several generations of music-making into the announcement of a changing awards field.
The Recording Academy announced the presenter lineup November 6. They will join Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. and board chair Dr. Chelsey Green for the Monday, November 16, presentation.
The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:45 a.m. Eastern on Grammy.com and the official Grammys YouTube channel, with special coverage on “Good Morning America.” The complete nominations list is expected online at approximately 9 a.m. Eastern. The Academy says times are subject to change.
A specific new place for R&B partnerships
The Academy’s guide to the 69th awards identifies Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance as one of five categories debuting this cycle.
The category recognizes contemporary R&B performances by established duos and groups as well as collaborations between artists. Its definition allows influences from hip-hop, pop and electronic music while requiring the work to remain clearly rooted in R&B.
For listeners who follow the genre through vocal pairings, featured performances and group harmonies, that is a concrete change in how recordings can be recognized. It does not yet tell the public which artists will be nominated or how voters will judge the field.
The other new categories cover Asian pop performance, traditional pop vocal performance, traditional folk albums and Latin songwriting. The nominations announcement will span 100 categories.
Presenters are not a preview of the winners
Being named as an announcement presenter is not the same as receiving a nomination. The Academy’s awards-process guide explains that voting members determine nominees in a first round and winners in a final round; neither a presenter lineup nor a promotional appearance establishes the eventual result.
The distinction matters during the days before the official list appears, when predictions and fan wish lists can circulate alongside confirmed information. November 16 is the date to check the Academy’s full list rather than treating an anticipated nomination as an announced one.
The ceremony itself is scheduled for Sunday, February 7, 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, airing at 7 p.m. Eastern on ABC and streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. Until then, the new R&B category gives fans a defined question to follow: which collaborations will make the first field?
