JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bus riders are facing changed schedules and routes this week after Jacksonville Transportation Authority service adjustments took effect Monday, November 2. The changes also pause Skyway operations, creating another reason for people traveling Downtown to check their trip before leaving.
JTA’s official service notice lists Routes 18, 25, 32 and 82 as eliminated and Route 34 as newly added. Several surviving routes have different paths, while others have timetable changes that vary by day of the week.
A familiar route number may now mean a different trip
The agency lists route changes for 10, 23, 24, 28, 31 and the Orange Line, alongside the new Route 34. Its notice links to individual schedules and identifies affected weekday, Saturday and Sunday services.
A schedule adjustment is different from a route adjustment: one changes when a bus comes, while the other can change where it travels. A rider may need to check both before relying on a familiar stop or connection.
JTA directs Skyway passengers to its Skyway information page for alternatives. The service-change notice does not give a restart date. Riders should not interpret the pause as a promise that trains will resume on a particular day.
Budget pressure is reaching riders
News4JAX reported November 2 that the board approved a $139 million budget, down from $178 million the previous year, and that nearly 200 employees were laid off as the authority sought to stabilize its finances.
Riders interviewed by the station described differing experiences, including concerns about longer waits and arriving at work on time. Those interviews document individual accounts; they do not establish the wait for every stop or route.
Check the entire journey
For a work shift, medical visit or Election Day trip, check the outbound service, any transfer and the return journey. A bus that still reaches a destination may no longer connect at the time a rider expects.
JTA says printed schedules are available at the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at LaVilla, public libraries, the Tax Collector’s Office and CareerSource Northeast Florida. Its customer-service number is 904-630-3100.
The linked agency notice is the starting point for route-specific planning. The fact that service has changed is confirmed; how an individual journey will be affected depends on its stops, direction and departure time.
