LOS ANGELES — Spotify’s first Fresh Finds Summit is scheduled for November 4 and 5, bringing emerging independent artists together for sessions on the business and craft of building a music career. John Legend, Ryan Tedder and María Zardoya are among the announced speakers.
In its November 2 announcement, Spotify said hundreds of artists from the inaugural Fresh Finds Forward class would attend.
Beyond getting a song heard
The announced agenda includes songwriting, touring, finances, team-building, music videos, mental health and music curation, alongside feedback on participants’ songs. Spotify said sessions would be recorded for members who are not attending in person.
Legend’s inclusion gives R&B audiences a familiar name in a discussion centered on early-career musicians. The announced event is an educational summit, rather than a John Legend concert or a general public showcase. Its practical value will depend on what participants can apply after the sessions.
Who can take part
Spotify’s eligibility guidance describes Fresh Finds Forward as an invitation-only program for eligible independent artists featured on its Fresh Finds playlists. Invitations go through Spotify for Artists to administrators of eligible artist teams; joining is optional.
The guidance says eligible artists added to a global Fresh Finds playlist from January 1, 2026, onward can be invited. Membership gives access to the program’s benefits hub for 12 months. Some benefits are limited to one redemption per artist team.
Those details matter because playlist consideration, program membership and an invitation to an in-person event are different opportunities. Spotify lists the Los Angeles summit for selected members, rather than promising attendance to every artist included on a playlist.
The support page also describes U.S.-specific studio access and limited opportunities to apply for touring or official music-video partnerships. Artists should check the current eligibility terms rather than assume every benefit is available everywhere.
For independent R&B singers, songwriters and producers, the useful takeaway is the emphasis on career infrastructure alongside discovery. Exposure can introduce a song to listeners; understanding budgets, collaborators and the next release helps an artist decide what to do with that attention. The summit’s stated goals are confirmed by Spotify’s announcement; its eventual results for participants remain to be seen.
