Jacksonville residents looking for a weekend outing have a mix of free activities and ticketed music events on the October 2–3 calendar.

First Friday at Friendship Fountain is scheduled tonight, October 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 1015 Museum Circle. Visit Jacksonville lists the gathering as free to attend and family-friendly, with food trucks, craft vendors, music and a fountain show.

Free admission means access to the event, not that purchases from vendors are included. Families can decide whether to build the evening around the gathering itself or budget separately for food and shopping.

Music is another option Friday evening. News4JAX lists the Jacksonville Symphony’s “Stevie Wonder & More: The 70s & Beyond” for 7:30 p.m. at Jacoby Symphony Hall, 300 Water Street. The symphony’s own calendar also confirms the program for October 2 and 3.

The performance celebrates music associated with Stevie Wonder, Prince, Ray Charles and other artists. It should not be mistaken for a notice that those performers will personally appear. Tickets are available through the symphony.

On Saturday, October 3, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens hosts its Golden Harvest Market and Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the News4JAX guide. The address is 829 Riverside Avenue. The guide lists the market as free and notes free museum admission through Free First Saturday.

Together, the options give residents different ways to spend time with family and friends without assuming that every outing needs the same budget. The fountain gathering provides a community setting, the museum offers art and market activities, and the concert focuses on familiar musical catalogs.

Check organizer listings before leaving for any event, particularly for ticket availability or schedule changes. The dates, locations and admission descriptions above reflect the listings reviewed for this late-morning edition.
