Morning edition • October 20, 2026. Developing: Google status checked against its 7 a.m. Eastern update.

A Google Cloud outage in London is affecting multiple services Tuesday morning, while digital bank Revolut reports disruption to customer services including payments.
Google’s official incident notice says the problem began at 11:08 p.m. Pacific on October 19—2:08 a.m. Eastern on October 20—in its europe-west2 region. Its 7 a.m. Eastern update said engineers were continuing to investigate elevated errors and intermittent network failures.
The listed products include computing, storage, databases and networking services. Google’s dashboard identifies London as the affected location, and its update says Looker Studio is not affected. The notice does not describe a worldwide failure of every Google product.
Reuters reported that a person familiar with the matter linked Revolut’s outage to the cloud disruption. Revolut’s own UK status page showed partial unavailability. The company said customers’ money and data were safe; that is its assurance, not an independent finding about the incident.
Where the cloud becomes an everyday problem
The practical effect of an infrastructure outage depends on which service a person is trying to use and which systems support it. A problem named for a particular region can matter to customers who do not live there, while services in other locations may continue operating.
Google’s status guidance says customers should check the products and locations relevant to their own systems. Its general dashboard also explains that an incident affecting a particular service does not automatically represent a platform-wide disruption.
For a business checking whether its own problem is connected, the useful details are the affected product, region, time and symptoms. Similar-looking errors alone do not prove a shared cause.
For customers, the providers’ status pages are the clearest starting point for updates. The cause and restoration timetable were still unresolved in Google’s morning notice. This article records the status at that update; later notices may change which services are affected.
