A driver faces DWI and other charges after six people were injured at a Halloween gathering outside Brooklyn’s 83rd Precinct Thursday, according to an updated police account reported Friday morning.
FOX 5 New York’s October 30 report, citing the NYPD’s public information office, identifies the driver as Michael Marsh, 56. Police allege he drove onto the sidewalk on Knickerbocker Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. October 29, striking pedestrians and a parked ambulance during the precinct’s trunk-or-treat event.
New charges clarify the investigation
The reported charges include two counts each of vehicular assault and reckless endangerment, along with DWI, driving while ability impaired, driving on a sidewalk and driving without a seatbelt.
The same report says three children, ages 6, 8 and 11, and three women were hospitalized in stable condition. The driver’s 46-year-old passenger was not facing charges at the time of the update. The injured pedestrians’ names had not been released.
These are police allegations and reported charges, not findings of guilt. The cited report does not provide a response from Marsh or his attorney, and this article does not infer one.
A gathering for families interrupted
The event had brought families to the precinct for Halloween activities. Thursday’s initial reporting described the collision and custody of the driver and passenger, but did not announce charges. Friday’s account is a material development in that same case.
TalkLife’s first edition noted conflicting early descriptions of how many children were hurt. The newer police-based account gives a consistent six-person total with the age breakdown above. Stable condition describes the reported condition at that point; it does not tell readers how long recovery will take.
This is separate from Wednesday’s fatal sanitation-truck collision in Bath Beach. The events should not be combined through unlabeled photographs or social-media clips.
