New Yorkers looking for a live-music outing without a ticket charge have two options on the Brooklyn waterfront this weekend. Bargemusic is scheduled to present free concerts at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Boathouse Visitor Center on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11.

Both performances begin at 2 p.m., according to the park’s event listings and Bargemusic’s calendar. Saturday’s program features selected works for solo violin, two violins, and violin with viola, performed by Mark Peskanov and Margo Shohl.

Sunday turns to Beethoven’s piano trios. Peskanov will be joined by cellist Samuel Magill and pianist Beth Levin for a program the organizer describes as contrasting trios.

The two lineups give the weekend distinct musical identities: Saturday concentrates on string combinations, while Sunday adds cello and piano. The organizer’s listings establish the programs and participants; they do not supply a basis for predicting how either performance will be received.

Bargemusic says admission is free, with no tickets or reservations. Doors open 20 minutes before the performance. The park describes the concerts as lasting approximately an hour to an hour and a half without an intermission, although its calendar displays a 2–3 p.m. event window.

Visitors should plan around the venue’s rules. Food and drinks are not permitted inside the Boathouse, and photography, video and audio recording require permission. The park says the performance space is wheelchair accessible, with restrooms next to the room.

For a family or friends arranging an afternoon together, the absence of an admission charge removes one expense from the plan. Transportation and the time needed to arrive still deserve consideration.

These are scheduled performances, rather than a guarantee that an event cannot change. The park cautions that weather or other circumstances may affect events. Check the linked organizer calendar and park notices before leaving, especially if traveling from outside the neighborhood.
